Pomace oil is produced from the dried remains of olive skin, fruit, and pit after we’ve extracted the virgin olive oil. The pomace contains 8% oil, which is extracted using the solvent extraction process. The solvent extraction process involves adding the chemical hexane to extract the last remaining oil in the dry remains of the fruit. It goes through the refining process where steam is used to evaporate the solvent. With all traces of the solvent gone, you have a safe and edible vegetable oil.
